An "acolyte" is church-speak for a person (of any age) who assists the Pastor with minor duties during a worship service. At Zion, the acolyte carries the processional cross, distributes and collects the offering plates, and assists with communion distribution (when needed).
A "lector" is church-speak for a person (of reading age or older) who reads the appointed lessons from the Old & New Testaments of the Bible. She or he should be comfortable with reading in front of a group of people.
Coffee Fellowship is our term for Sunday's post-worship time for meeting, greeting, and eating. The hosts for Coffee Fellowship are responsible for setting up, brewing coffee, providing treats to eat, and cleaning up.
This new team of volunteers will be in charge of coordinating the two primary hospitality ministries of the church: welcoming visitors and Coffee Fellowship. Interested in serving? Contact Cantor Kurt R. Schmidt at email@example.com.
