Alexis Jane Marion was a gift, a blessing. She was a bright and talented young lady who brought joy to those who knew her or had the chance to meet her. Maya Angelou said she’s “learned that people will forget what you said [and] people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” That’s what Alexis did for others: she made them feel special. Her smile would light up a room, her giggles and laughter bringing happiness to others. She was loved dearly by her friends and by her family.
It is her family’s hope that by bringing awareness to the fact that as a community, as a state and as a nation we must do better to provide meaningful mental health services for young people in order to make a difference and bring about better outcomes for all.
It is our pledge, as a community, to continue the conversation and make connections to provide pathways to better health and wellness: mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. We hope that you'll join us on September 11th for this very important community event.
